This book had some grammatical errors that were a bit annoying. This was Riley's story and it was a good story but it made me mad. Riley is the same "take no prisioners "girl as in Bad Rep, but in this book, she was also cruel and vicious. She broke up with Damien and was having a hard time. One night she went out with Maysie, got real drunk and ended up in bed with Garret, Jordan's friend and guitarist in their band, Generation Rejects. She had a low opinion of Garret, and in a way it was justified. He always appeared laid back, smoking pot and having wild parties at his house. This is typical behavior for a rocker, but she saw him as scum and didn't hesitate to tell him so. During the book, he shone in moments, showing a sensitive nature, more profundity than expected. Instead of exploring that hidden personna better, she kept snarking at him and being a world class bitch, cruel, judgemental and diminishing. I felt so bad for Garret and definitely felt he deserved more than what Riley had to offer. Riley suffers a big loss and Garret rushed to be at her side. They had 5 minutes of sweetness and then Riley let loose her inner bitch again, argh. Thank goodness she finally saw the light and the book improved showing a rational Riley who stopped acting so surly and superior. The story was great and I enjoyed it but I really wanted to slap Riley many times throughout the book.Tags : Perfect Regret (Bad Rep Book 2) - Kindle edition by A. Meredith Walters. Riley has been dumped. And not just dumped, but dumped (Yes, there is a difference.). She believed she was in a great relationship with a perfect guy. Turns out, he didn't feel the same way. It has left her reeling and acting very un-Riley like. And after a night of drinking, she wakes up in the bed of the last person on earth she would have hooked up with if she had been sober.
Garrett Bellows.
"Right now, I was Riley Walker Sex Goddess! And I wanted to play a few rounds of Mr. Wobbly Hides the Helmet!"
Garrett does not fit into the mold that is Riley's life. She believes she has her future all planned out and a loser like Garrett does not fit anywhere into the equation. Can she look past the surface and see the guy hiding beneath or is she just too blinded by her self-righteous attitude to overlook possibly the best thing that could ever happen to her?
I didn't think there could get any better than Jordan after reading Bad Rep. I was wrong. So very wrong! Garrett definitely stole my heart in this book. He is SO different than I thought he would be. I found myself swooning at numerous times in the book for him.
"I'm here because no matter what you say, or what you do, I want you. I want every part of you. There is something in you that calls out to the messed pieces inside of me. And I think you might be the girl to make my world right again."
Riley had be wanting to bang my head against the wall SO. MANY. TIMES throughout this book. I loved her snarky personality in Bad Rep, but her snarky turned to witchy in Perfect Regret. Her only saving grace was she totally owned it. She would be the first to call herself out for acting like the Wicked Witch of the West.
This book was a total roller-coaster of emotions. I went from being pissed at Riley, to swooning over Garrett and then crying my eyes out. I loved Perfect Regret every bit as much as Bad Rep. Well, except for the parts where I wanted to punch Riley for being so stupid!
Another great book by Ms. Walters!
I thought that I would like Riley a lot more because I liked her in the first novel of this series, but I just found her quite annoying. Sure, lashing out when afraid is one thing, but this girl went to the extreme and she said some nasty things.
And Garret. He wouldn't have been the type of guy that I went for, but he was good for Riley. At first he gave her what she gave him, but it started to wear and tear even him. Even though he had some messed up stuff happen to him in high school, he is still a good guy inside. And he may have done a lot of stuff that isn't the best for him, but he realized what he was doing and changed his ways.
I dunno. This was an okay novel for me. If Riley wasn't so stubborn and "hard" I may have liked it more. But her self depicting really got annoying fast for me.
Saying all that, I did read this book in one sitting without moving, and I laughed at some parts of the book. But for the most part, I was hating on Riley's attitude in the book.
I'm interested to see if Walters is going to write another book in this series and will probably read it because I've had a hit and a miss with this series so far.
